Artistic Director and Principal Violist
After completing her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music in London, Beth performed regularly with the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, English National Opera, BBC Concert Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, London Sinfonietta, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra of Wales. Beth has also worked and toured in Ireland and America with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra and Camerata Ireland with Barry Douglas. Since moving to Ireland in 2007 she has been principal viola of the Wexford Festival Opera Orchestra and has appeared as guest principal Viola with English National Ballet and the RTE Symphony and Concert Orchestras. As a soloist, Beth has performed and recorded the Telemann Viola Concerto. She has also performed the Solo part
in Vaughn Williams’ Flos Campi for Orchestra, Choir and Viola and was soloist alongside Ioana Petcu-Colan in 2015 with Mozart Sinfonia Concertante at the National Opera House. Beth made her solo debut at the National Concert Hall, Dublin in 2013. A prolific chamber musician, Beth has played regularly in string quartets since the age of nine. She was a founder member of the Guillami String Quartet, formed in 1998, finalists in the Royal Overseas League chamber competition in 2002 and winners of the Bulldog Scholarship for string quartets from Trinity College, London. They have a recording of Shostakovich, Mozart and Walton and were resident quartet at the Ludlow Festival for four years. Beth is the founder and Artistic Director of Musici Ireland and lives in Blackwater, Co Wexford with her family. Beth plays on an 1818 Matthew Hardie viola, cut down from a Barack Norman Viol from the 1650s.
